I don't see the point in doing this frequently, but every so often it's good to share what you've found.

Where elephants and lambs swim

A helpful exploration of a quote by Pope Gregory I, the first Monk to become Pope. Its helpful to recognise that scripture is for everyone, not just the nerdy.

A good catechism
Its good to read through a catechism every now and then. Dependant on what you are reading and thinking about at that moment you'll find different sections jump out at you at different times. And it's helpful to examine yourself: Do I agree? Why? Why not? As a good Baptist I'm inclined to suggest Keach's Catechism for starters.

The life of St. Anthony
Written by Athanasius, it is a rip-roaring read to skim through and capture a glimpse of one of the early christian celebrities. Despite his constant desire for loneliness, people flocked to be near him. And it has the greatest little line which celebrates Anthony's poor hygiene:
"And he neither bathed his body with water to free himself from filth, nor did he ever wash his feet, nor even endure so much as to put them into water, unless compelled by necessity."
Hillel and the Good Samaritan
A curious investigation on some possible context to the story of the good Samaritan. I really appreciate that this perspective strongly asserts that Jesus is personally intending to associate the lawyer with someone in the story, but that there is a definite twist to it, that the lawyer was not expecting or wanting. But I wonder what this blog writer would make of Don Carson's approach to the story that Jesus "puts the lawyer in the position of the one in need." As this would appear to go against what he is saying, yet it seems such a compelling interpretation of Jesus' story.
